Action For Kids Student Award Ceremony 2012
In a ceremony at North Middlesex Cricket Club, one by one students were called up to receive the certificates issued by examining boards the AQA, the largest English examining board, and the Open College Network. The young people had gained qualifications through Action For Kids in areas as varied as dressing, music production, and helping with the fundraising that keeps Action For Kids going.
The young people have been learning skills to make them more independent, better able to look after themselves, and more confident in using their skills to go out into the world.
Students talked about how happy they were to receive the awards - and how much real difference it made to their lives.
Thanks to all the supporters who have supported the work of Action For Kids, volunteer Marian Pashley for being compere of the event, and to Haringay mayor Cllr Adamou for coming along and recognising the achievements of so many young disabled students.
